Ghana forward John Antwi joins Egyptian Super Cup champions Tala’a El-Gaish from Pyramids FC

Egypt Super Cup winners Tala’a El-Gaish have announced the signing of Ghanaian international striker John Antwi from Pyramids FC.

Antwi has established himself as one of the most prolific strikers in Egyptian football in recent years after spells with Ismaily, Al Ahly, Misr El-Makkasa, and Pyramids FC.

With 77 goals in the Egyptian Premier League, Antwi sits top on the list of all-time foreign top goalscorers; however, he struggled this season with Pyramids as he failed to score a single goal in 16 league games.

His only goal of the season came in the first round of the CAF Confederation Cup when Pyramids beat Libya’s Al-Ittihad, thanks to his sole strike.

The appointment of Ehab Galal as a new head coach gave Antwi a breath of hope at Pyramids as the duo had a very successful time at Misr El-Makkasa when they guided the club to a historic second-place finish, thanks to Antwi’s 12 strikes.

However, it looks like Galal is content with the arrival of Fakhreddine Ben Youssef from Ismaily and doesn’t see a place for the Ghanaian striker in his squad.

As a result, Antwi has completed a move to Egyptian Super Cup winners Tala’a El-Gaish, becoming their 16th summer signing as announced by the military club.

The transfer deal isn’t the first between the two teams during this summer, a few days ago, Pyramids announced the signing of Tala’a El-Gaish’s Hussein El-Sayed, on the other hand, Pyramids striker Karim El-Tayeb has joined El-Gaish on a one-year loan.

Tala’a El-Gaish have recently won their first-ever title when they beat Al Ahly to the Egypt Super Cup in a penalty shoot-out.
