Pitso Mosimane examines the real problems that impact his Al Ahly players citing European elite clubs

Al Ahly head coach Pitso Mosimane addressed the consequences of fatigue and how it affects everyone, including European football giants.

Pitso joined Al Ahly in 2020 as a successor to Swiss manager Rene Weiler, and in less than one year, the South African managed to win two back-to-back CAF Champions League titles with the Reds.

The Sundowns legend has also led the Red Devils to their second-ever FIFA Club World Cup bronze medal after beating Copa Libertadores champions Palmeiras.

However, Pitso has been struggling on the domestic level lately as he lost Egypt Super Cup to Tala’a El-Gaish and the Egyptian Premier League to arch-rivals Zamalek.

Mosimane believes that the accumulating fatigue affected his team greatly and it’s the main reason behind the drop in performance, giving that Al Ahly didn’t have any breaks last season.

On Twitter, Pitso stated that everyone suffers the same way when they are put under pressure, even huge football clubs such as Liverpool, Barcelona, and Real Madrid.

Pitso tweeted: “Barca, Chelsea, Liverpool, Real Madrid, Bayern, PSG, and Man City have not won their last three games, never underestimate mental & physical fatigue.

“Travelling, game intensity in Champions League, FIFA World Cup qualifiers & Domestic League program takes a lot from players & Technical team.”
