Al Ahly star Yasser Ibrahim named Man of the Match after netting brace in Club World Cup third place against Al Hilal

Yasser Ibrahim has been named the Man of the Match for Al Ahly’s victory over Al Hilal in the Club World Cup third-place playoff.

African champions Al Ahly have clinched the Club World Cup bronze medal for a second consecutive year following a historic 4-0 victory over Asian champions Al Hilal.

Not only did Al Ahly have claimed their third-ever medal in the Club World Cup, but they recorded their biggest-ever victory in their history in the tournament.

While it was a team effort, center-back Yasser Ibrahim should take a big chunk of the praise especially having scored Al Ahly’s opening two goals of the game.

The brace made Yasser Ibrahim the second-ever Egyptian to score a brace in the Club World Cup after the legendary Mohamed Aboutrika against Club América back in 2006.

Moreover, his tally of two goals sees Ibrahim sit joint-third with Emad Meteb on the club’s top-scoring charts in the competition after Aboutrika (4) and Amado Flavio (3).

Ibrahim also kept Moussa Marega quiet during the game while he was the sole reason behind Mohamed Kanno’s sending off.

For his performance, Ibrahim was awarded the Man of the Match award, becoming the second Al Ahly defender to win the award this year after Rami Rabia against C.F.
