ES Setif manager Darko Novic remains hopeful ahead of Al Ahly clash

Despite massive defeat against Al Ahly, ES Setif head coach Darko Novic still believes in his team’s qualification chances in the CAF Champions League semi-finals.

The Red Devils cruised past ES Setif in a 4-0 victory in the first leg of the CAF Champions League semi-finals on Saturday.

Taher Mohamed, Mohamed Sherif, and Percy Tau were all on the scoresheet as Al Ahly are now on the verge of qualification to the final for the third consecutive season.

To add to their woes, ES Setif will be without midfielder Amir Karaoui in the return leg after receiving a red card for a reckless challenge on Hussein El-Shahat.

However, Setif manager Darko Novic has not given up yet as he still believes in his team’s chances to advance to the prestigious tournament’s final.

“Despite the first-leg defeat, the upcoming match will be difficult,” Novic said.

“We’ll try to stop Al Ahly from playing the way they prefer, and we’ll do our best to qualify for the final.

“We will do our best to come out of the game with a positive result.”
