Gaston Sirino ruled out of Mamelodi Sundown Caf Champions League clash with Al Ahy

Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Manqoba Mngqithi stated that Gaston Sirino will not be participating in Al Ahly game due to injury.

South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns were drawn into Group A in the CAF Champions League alongside title-holders Al Ahly, Al Hilal and Al Merreikh.

In their opening game of the tournament, they successfully came out on top against Al Hilal 1-0.

However, they received a heavy blow during the clash when Gaston Sirino left the pitch after only 25 minutes played due to injury.

According to the Brazilians head coach Manqoba Mngqithi, the injury will prevent the Uruguayan from participating against the Red Devils in the game taking place on the 25th of this month.

“It is sad that when he was beginning to come back very strongly and show really good signs in training, we have to lose him in the manner he did,” Mngqithi said.

“He has already had an operation and the doctors have said it might be two to three weeks being outside of football.

“So we are hoping that when we come back from Al Ahly he will be in a very good space to assist the team going forward. We wish him a speedy recovery; he is a very important member of our team.”
