Raja Casablanca manager Rachid Taoussi pours praises on Al Ahly players ahead of Caf Champions League clash

Raja Casablanca head coach, Rachid Taoussi, spoke highly of the Al Ahly players before their CAF Champions League quarter-finals first leg game.

Al Ahly are set to host Raja Casablanca in the first leg of the CAF Champions League quarterfinals this Saturday, 16 April.

Both teams had very different journeys in the group stage. On the one hand the Reds had a difficult start, earning qualification in their final group game against Sudan’s Al Hilal.

Raja, on the other hand, advanced to the quarter-finals after dominating their group with five wins and just one defeat, earning 15 points in the process.

The Moroccan giants will be looking to take their revenge on Al Ahly, who beat them last December in the CAF Super Cup.

Speaking before the game, Taoussi says that his team is fully prepared for the game and assures it will be a different match from the Super Cup.

“This is an important match for both teams. We’re ready for it and my team will be up for the task,” he said in the pre-match press conference.

“But we have the advantage of playing the first match away from our stadium and the second one at the Mohammed V Stadium, which represents hell for our opponents.

“Al-Ahly is a big team and has distinguished players such as Mohamed El-Shennawy, Amr El-Sulya, Mohamed Magdy Afsha, Ahmed Abdelkader and Mohamed Sherif.

”Al Ahly have strong players on all areas of the pitch.

“It will be a different match from the Super match, as each encounter has its own circumstances and preparations,” he concluded.
