Zamalek return to winning ways in Egyptian Premier League after beating Ismaily 2-0 on Friday

Ismaily suffer fourth consecutive defeat in the after falling to a 2-0 loss against title-holders Zamalek.

Before their Friday clash, Zamalek were eighth on the league table after two wins and one defeat, while Ismaily sat in last place after three consecutive losses.

After last matchday’s humiliating defeat against arch-rivals Al Ahly, Carteron’s men went into the game with only one goal in mind which is winning.

The hosts on the other hand aimed to surprise their guests in order to collect their first three points to escape the league’s relegation zone.

Zamalek dominated the game early on while Ismaily relied on counter-attacks to snatch the game’s opening goal, and in the 25th minute, the hosts were close to scoring as Abdelrahman Maagdy’s shot narrowly missed the target.

Despite both teams searching for a winning goal before the half-time break, their chances were futile as both defenses stopped all opposing team danger.

In the second half of the match, both teams were less aggressive with Zamalek being slightly more dangerous.

In the 82nd minute, Zamalek were awarded a penalty kick that was executed by Ahmed Sayed Zizo who scored his fourth goal this season from the spot.

Ismaily then made a few attempts to return to the game, but ten minutes later and in the injury time, Omar El-Said added a second goal for Zamalek after a long ball from Zizo to end the game with the result of 2-0.

With this win, Zamalek moved up to third place on the league table with nine points from four games behind Pyramids and Al Ahly. While Ismaily will keep sitting in last place with zero points.
