Pitso Mosimane highlights Raja Casablanca problem that led to slippery of Caf Super Cup title

The South African International sound like Raja Casablanca’s delay tactics was the main reason to their downfall in Caf Super Cup final against his side Al Ahly.

Al Ahly head coach, Pitso Mosimane, praised his players following their win over Raja Casablanca but said the Moroccans slipped the game from their hands.

After trailing for the majority of the game, Al Ahly snatched a late equaliser through Taher Mohamed to send the CAF Super Cup to penalties where they eventually won 6-5.

By winning the trophy, Pitso Mosimane has become the first Al Ahly manager to win the CAF Champions League and the CAF Super Cup for two successive times since Manuel Jose in 2007.

Moreover, Al Ahly have lifted the Super Cup for a record eighth time as they now have reached their 25th international trophy, sitting just one behind European giants Real Madrid.

Mosimane is proud of his players especially as they took the penalties as practiced, while also explaining how Raja could have won the game if they hadn’t chosen to play in a negative way.

“I feel good. I must first thank the players, we did practice the penalties and we took the same way we practiced it,” Mosimane said in the post-match interview.

“I want to thank players, the technical team, the supporters who put the pressure all game, ‘Bibo’ [Al Ahly president] and his board.

“It’s always tough. We thought it was going to be like this.

“I think if Raja had played more, they would have had the chance to win, but they played to delay the game and sit on the floor.

“But we are a good team. We are Al Ahly. We have great spirit,” he concluded.
