Zamalek could lose star midfielder Tarek Hamed at end of season after Saudi giants Ittihad Jeddah weighing up bid

Zamalek star midfielder Tarek Hamed has emerged as a transfer target for Saudi giants Ittihad Jeddah as his contract is set to expire at the end of the current season.

Hamed, 33, has been a fan-favourite at the White Castle since his arrival from Smouha back in 2014, making over 270 appearances for the club and helping them win 10 trophies during his eight-year stint.

Despite still being an integral part of the Zamalek squad this season, the club might be forced to sell the player this winter in order to recoup some money from his sale instead of losing him on a free transfer next summer.

And as Zamalek have yet to convince Hamed to put a pen on a new contract, Ittihad Jeddah emerged as potential suitors for the player to replace injured skipper Karim El Ahmadi, according to Saudi news outlet Almowaten.

The report added the reason that led Ittihad to go for Tarek Hamed is the hopes of replicating the experience of Ahmed Hegazi, who has been in a remarkable form with the Tigers since 2020.

Hegazi is not the only Egyptian to have shown his class in Jeddah, with the likes of Mahmoud Kahraba, Hosny Abd Rabo, and Emad Meteb also representing the club in recent years.

Whether Tarek Hamed will make a move to Saudi Arabia or extend his contract with Zamalek remains to be seen, as he is not the only player whose future remain unclear with the Egyptian Premier League holders.

Ahmed Sayed Zizo, Achraf Bencharki, Razack Cissé, Seifeddine Jaziri, and Mostafa Fathi, have all been rumoured to be on the move, with the latter agreeing on a deal with Saudi side Al Taawoun.
