Al Ahly reportedly unhappy with Pitso Mosimane after latest statement

Al Ahly legend turned pundit, Ahmed Shobier, claims that the club didn’t appreciate Pitso Mosimane discussing details about the contract talks.

Mosimane has enjoyed great continental and domestic success with Al Ahly since joining them in 2020, proving himself as arguably the best manager in Africa.

In just over a year, Pitso led Al Ahly to two back-to-back CAF Champions League victories, two CAF Super Cups, and a FIFA Club World Cup third-place finish.

Despite all that, Al Ahly and Mosimane are yet to reach an agreement regarding his contract extension, as his current deal with the team ends by the end of the season.

During the press conference after the Arab Contractors clash last Friday, Mosimane addressed his contract situation, stating that he needs to feel stability as the negotiations have gone on for too long.

In his statement, the South African said that they have agreed on the salary but there are other points to discuss.

Pitso also confirmed that he wishes to stay in Cairo and that it bothers him that the negotiations aren’t done yet, confirming that there is nothing him or the club can do at the moment.

According to Shobier, the club didn’t appreciate Mosimane disclosing the details of the negotiations to the public and revealed new details about their disagreement.

“Al Ahly are angry at Mosimane after his recent statements in the press conference that followed the Arab Contractors match, when he revealed all the details of his negotiations with the board regarding his contract negotiations,” Shobier said on his radio show on ONTime Sport FM.

“The Al Ahly board discussed the crisis in their last meeting, and it was decided to remain silent and postpone the decision to extend Mosimane’s contract until after the Club World Cup. Mosimane is against this idea and is putting pressure on the board to make the decision as he has other offers and hopes to make a decision soon.

“Al Ahly board blamed Mohsen Saleh for his last tweet, which he deleted and will remain silent.

“Al Ahly are confused and wants to wait for the results of the Club World Cup and the league to determine their final decision, especially since the team lost the Super and the League in a very strange manner under Mosimane, despite winning the African titles,” he added.

Mohsen Saleh, chairman of the club’s planning committee, had posted a tweet where he showcased all the managers who took charge of Al Ahly in the 21st century and their achievements.

“Al Ahly’s championships in the new millennium: General [Manuel] Jose 20 trophies, his assistant El-Badry 9, coach Garrido 2. The promising Mohamed Youssef 2. The saviour Zizou one. Mabrouk 2. The family-man Weiler 2. Martin, Dixie, and Oliveira one, and before them the General with 6 and finally Al-Sais, Shawky and Anwar with one.”

“Pitso 5. How lucky is the person who coaches Al Ahly?!” Mohsen Saleh wrote.

Shobier then revealed that the reason Mosimane wants the situation to be resolved as soon as possible is because he has several offers from other African nations.

“Mosimane claims to have offers from African national teams like Senegal, for example, and he wants to give them an answer,” he continued.

“Mosimane enjoys his life in Egypt and like the stardom that comes with coaching Al Ahly. He sees that his successes with the team should’ve pushed the board to hand him a six-year contract. He’s surprised how they are still discussing the idea of extending his contract or not.

“Mosimane says that there is a dispute between Amir Tawfik and Moira, his wife and agent, and this is not true because Amir Tawfik is negotiating with her based on clear instructions from the Supervisor of the Football Sector.

“It’s certain that Al Ahly is currently not extending Mosimane’s contract until the end of the World Cup, and Mosimane doesn’t want to wait,” he concluded.
