Mamelodi Sundowns Transfer News: Former defender James Mayinga makes awkward statement about Sirino and Zwane partnership

Former Mamelodi Sundowns defender James Mayinga believes the transfer activity taking place at the Brazilians, might signal the death of the Gaston Sirino and Themba Zwane combination.

Mayinga who used to play in defense for the Tshwane giants, says there’s a new-look team that is being constructed at the defending champions.

Ethiopian youngster Abubakar Nassir and Teboho Mokoena may find themselves playing together in the already star-studded team.

In addition, Bradley Ralani has already signed from Cape Town City.

This means that some of the crowd favourites might lose their positions in the team. Uruguayan Sirino has seen very little game time this season and looks set to be the first victim.

“There is a Bolivian guy coming also (midfielder Erwin Saavedra) that they have purchased,” Mayinga tells Kickoff.com.

“So maybe a change of scenery can be good for Sirino because this season he hasn’t had the same impact. For instance, the team now has to adapt to Peter Shalulile. Shalulile is the main focus, So the others will have to follow.

“So even if you look at Mshishi now, he is no longer the same Mshishi we knew. He has to play or feed off Shalulile. So the Sirino and Mshishi combination no longer exists.

“The competition is gonna be tight. Sundowns is all about producing quality. Each and every match they play at a certain intensity. So to sustain that they need quality players. You must not forget they will be competing in Africa and in the domestic league.

“So it’s gonna be very interesting to see how they will be shuffling their line-up. They play three formations, there’s a 4-2-3-1, there is 4-4-2, and there is a 3-4-3,” he said.
