Zamalek crowned Egyptian Premier League champions for 14th time

Zamalek have been crowned 2 022/23 Egyptian Premier League champions for a second consecutive year following Pyramids FC’s defeat to Future.

The Whites have been in the commanding seat of the league title race for the majority of the season, taking advantage of poor results from both Al Ahly and Pyramids.

Following back-to-back defeats against ENPPI and El-Gaish back in May, Zamalek dropped just two points against Al Ahly out 36, going on a ten-game winning streak.

That was enough for Jesualdo Ferreira’s men to lift the title with three games left to play after both Al Ahly and Pyramids dropped points against Ismaily and Future respectively.

This league title marks Zamalek’s 14th since its inception in 1911 and it becomes only the fourth time the club has managed to win back-to-back league titles.

Zamalek will be handed the league title to lift on Tuesday following their clash with Ittihad of Alexandria and then will shift their focus on the Egypt Cup, where they will face Al Masry in the quarter-finals.
