Chelsea still working on nine deals on transfer deadline day including Edson Alvarez

Chelsea are still working on completing up to nine deals before the summer transfer window closes this evening. The Blues have already signed six players so far this summer, but if Todd Boehly gets his wish, then that figure will be at least eight come 11pm.

The likes of Hakim Ziyech, Billy Gilmour, Kennedy, Ethan Ampadu, Michy Batshuayi and Dujon Sterling are expected to depart Stamford Bridge after Chelsea opening their arms for prospective suitors.

Ajax midfielder Edson Alvarez is among the likeliest incomings with a deal for Barcelona forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang set to be announced in some hours time. The Gabon International is understood to be on his Chelsea medicals.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have submitted a £43million bid to Ajax last night for Alvarez. The move seemingly came out of nowhere, but it has been understood the Mexican midfielder is someone who has been tracked by the west London club for some time.

There has been no definitive reply from the Dutch club to the bid from Chelsea so far. Negotiations between the two parties, as well as Alvarez with Chelsea, will continue throughout the day. But few developments suggest that Alvarez has agreed personal terms with the Blues.

Ajax do not want to let Alvarez go with the transfer market in the Netherlands already closed. The Amsterdam-based club would not be able to go out and purchase a direct replacement for the Mexican midfielder, although they have reached Florian Grillitsch agreement on a free transfer – which is allowed despite the window being closed.

Florian Grillitsch’s personal terms agreement talks has been seen a pave-way approach made by Ajax which Chelsea will be the immediate and long term beneficiary that will see Alvarez move to London. Ajax is expected to announce Grillitsch’s move in the next hours. The Australian International can play in central defence and midfield.
