Chelsea close in on Kai Havertz transfer as personal terms with Leverkusen star agreed

As Chelsea fans celebrate their 3-1 win last night over Manchester United in the FA Cup semifinal, the Blues have decided to offer them another gift in Kai Havertz according to reports.

According to David Ornstein of the Athletic, Chelsea are “closing in” on a deal for wonderkid and hopefully future superstar Kai Havertz, with personal terms “all but done” and the rest of the financials getting worked out as well.

The reported fee is expected to be in the region of €80m, including add-ons, which if true is definitely cheaper than previously reported lofty sums of over €100m.

Apparently, Chelsea could either choose to pay €65m upfront with €15m in add-ons or €70m plus €10m in add-ons or any such permutation — matching Chelsea’s record transfer fee paid in any case.

The report also goes on to state that the negotiation for Kai’s personal terms are not going to be a problem, merely a formality at this point.

Also, as has been reported by various outlets, Champions League or no Champions League does not matter either, as Havertz has made up his mind to join Chelsea after conversations with Frank Lampard (and maybe even Agent Rüdiger and newly appointed Agent Werner!)

It has definitely been a good 24 hours and if no complications arise (basically a last minute bid from FFP-proof Manchester City or Real Madrid), we just might see Kai Havertz in a Chelsea shirt soon.
