Real Madrid could hijack £77m dream Chelsea transfer for Karim Benzema heir

Dusan Vlahovic faces an increasing uncertain future at Juventus, with Real Madrid reportedly joining Chelsea in the race to sign the striker

According to Italian outlet Corriere della Sera, the Old Lady rejected an opening bid from Chelsea worth around €60million (£51.5m). The report states that Juventus could be open to offloading Vlahovic if their £77million asking price is met – which is £11m more than what they paid for him last year.

With Massimiliano Allegri seemingly open to offloading the Serbian, Real Madrid have reportedly joined the west London outfit in their pursuit. According to Sky Sports, as quoted by Goal, Los Blancos are exploring the possibility of signing Vlahovic this summer following the departure of Karim Benzema.

The Chelsea Chronicle add that Carlo Ancelotti has even made a phone call about the striker. However, while Chelsea may feel threatened by Real Madrid’s enquiry, Romelu Lukaku could unlock the Blues significant leverage in a potential player-plus-cash swap deal.

In an interview with Tuttojuve, Miralem Pjanic argued that the Belgium international may be better suited to leading the line in Turin than Vlahovic. The former Roma and Juventus midfielder said: “If they think that right now it’s better to have a nine in the group with Lukaku’s characteristics rather than one with Vlahovic’s.

“They’ll find the right solution for everyone. I like Dusan a lot. Vlahovic is young, but he has a lot of potential and Fiorentina has shown great things.

“In Turin, where the shirt is heavier, he has yet to find continuity. Lukaku has more international experience, he’s an accomplished player.”
