Philippe Coutinho proposed EPL return set to suffer twist after Lionel Messi wants Barcelona to keep Brazilian

Former Anfield star Philippe Coutinho has been tipped to make a return to the Premier League after his struggles to life at Camp Nou since a £142million move to Barcelona in 2018

Currently on loan at Bayern Munich, but the Bundesliga outfits are believed to relegate the chances to make the initial move permanent to the background due to the Brazilian’s unimpressive performance at the Allianz Arena.

Liverpool, where Coutinho eventually rose to prominence in his career have also resisted the coming of their former play-maker back to Anfield, and Barcelona is in light to cash in on the 27-year-old to raise funds for Neymar and Lautaro Martinez transfers.

This hands Coutinho potential suitors like Chelsea, Arsenal, Leicester City, Everton and Newcastle United to make a choice after telling his agent the desire in returning to the Premier League.

Since then, the former Liverpool ace have been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge as next possible destination though Everton and Newcastle are reportedly planning to give Frank Lampard’s side a fight in the race.

Chelsea are weighting up things to see the possibility of the transfer before they make official contacts to Barcelona and Coutinho’s reps.

According to report from Spain, the 27-year-old’s move to EPL could be scuffed on the ground as super star Lionel Messi makes quick intervene to the Brazilian’s proposed move away from Camp Nou.

The Athletic now claim Messi disagrees with Barcelona’s decision to let the former Inter Milan man leave, and the Argentine would want Ousmane Dembele sold instead.

Dembele has failed to make impact at Barcelona since joining the Catalans from Borussia Dortmund before the start of 2017-2018 season, on a five-year-deal for a club-record 105 million euros (96.86 million pounds) plus add-ons.

Though he has consistently hit with injuries, he has equally been given many minutes to prove critics wrong but has generally failed.

The French International is reportedly unhappy at Barcelona and would want a new challenge elsewhere where he is reportedly eyeing a move to Arsenal.
