EXCLUSIVE: Asante Kotoko receives Richard Senanu injury boost as midfielder in last phase of rehabilitation, expected to return to action in February 2020

Richard Senanu was very instrumental for Asante Kotoko playing virtually all of Kotoko games in the 2018-2019 CAF Confederations Cup before sustaining a knee injury at home against ZESCO United in February 2019.

Having completed a successful surgery July last year in Germany, the midfielder has step up his rehabilitation and is at the last phase of the rehab.

He is now understood to last in waiting Eight weeks to complete the last phase of the rehabilitation to amid a complete come back to action next month, as disclosed by the Asante Kotoko medical team on Monday evening.

“Senanu is currently undergoing the second phase of recovery, Deputy Head of Medical Team Emmanuel Osei Owusu told Kotoko Express App on Monday evening.

“This part is divided into two, and the first includes strengthening of his muscles. This should take him a month to complete”, Emmanuel Osei Owusu added.

“The second part, which is about endurance drills, will follow immediately afterward. That should also take a month to complete.”

“Senanu will then be strong enough to join his teammates once his muscles have been strengthened and he has attained the required body strength and endurance level”, the Deputy Head of Medical Team concluded.

After his return lies a huge competition in front of him in midfield. In his absence, the Porcupines filled the defensive midfield position by signing Justice Blay from Premier League leaders Medeama.

The likes of Mudasiru Salifu and Collins Ameyaw are also in line to compete with Senanu for a position in midfield when he returns to action next month.
