Asante Kotoko and Betika officially launch partnership for the next two years

Asante Kotoko SC and betting firm Betika officially launched their partnership on Tuesday during a ceremony at the Golden Bean Hotel in Kumasi.

Some three weeks ago, the Ghanaian giants announced their partnership agreement with Betika over the next two football seasons.

Kotoko will be earning around 1.3 million cedis across that period and would get other benefits including football equipment, products from the betting company.

The club’s CEO Nana Yaw Amponsah was present at the ceremony to append his signature to the contract.

Brazilian import Fabio Gama dos Santos, Cameroonian player George Mfegue Omgba, Isaac Oppong and one Clinton Opoku graced the occasion on Kotoko behalf.

Club legend and 1978 African footballer of the year Abdul Karim Razak (Golden Boy) was present. Razak involved in back-heel challenge with Mfegue, Oppong, Clinton and Gama. That was to beatify the occasion and entertain those who represented event.

Other club legends in Ernest Appau, Joe Louis amongst others were also there to support the ceremony.

Kotoko have landed several sponsorship deals since appointment of Nana Yaw Amponsah who has reportedly generated funds from such sources.

Kotoko partnered National Lottery Authority last month which saw Kotoko placed NLA logo in front of the jersey used against King Faisal last Sunday. Betika’s logo was also places back and besides number of each jersey.

Though Kotoko lost that game 3-2, their outfit was something that left them with positive energy after receiving good feedback from supporters.

Ghanaian youngster Zubiaru Ibrahim put King Faisal ahead under 4’ minute before adding two more goals to complete his hat-trick on the day.

Cameroonian forward George Mfegue who has settled in well grabbed brace to reduce deficit to only one but Kotoko couldn’t drew level. The defeat saw Asante Kotoko maintain their lead on the Ghana Premier League log with only superior goal difference dynamics with both clubs having 13 points each.

The defeat were Kotoko’s first loss of the season having burst into 100% record from the four games before drawing goalless at Karela United two weeks ago.

Kotoko are likely to host Real Tamale United at Baba Yara in their next fixture this weekend. That’s due to the GFA postponing their matchday 7 game against Hearts of Oak who participated in the Confederation Cup and will arrive in Ghana late which disqualify them from honouring the game against Kotoko.
