With that sweet victory, Asante Kotoko now have their destiny in their hands with the final first preliminary round game coming off this weekend.

Their supporters will be a source of strength against the Burkina Faso Premier League champions and have been urged to troop into the Baba Yara Sports Stadium this Sunday.

The urgent call comes from a Board Member Evelyn Nsiah Asare who has told supporters of the club to fill the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday, September 18. Despite asking supporters to come to the Stadium that will undoubtedly reduced Kadiogo’s sensitivity on the match-day, she highlighted the Burkinabes’ chances in the second leg.

She believed RC Kadiogo can pose a threat at the Baba Yara Stadium but a large fan base will be crucial for Kotoko to eliminate RC Kadiogo.

“What I am scared of is the fact that the second leg is taking place at our home ground because if you’re not lucky and they [Kadiogo] score one, you could be in trouble,” she said in an interview with Kumasi-based Nhyira FM.

“So we should be able to fill the park, so then we the supporters will be regarded as the twelfth player on the day to support the players. We congratulate the players, management and the technical team. They have all done extremely well,” she added.

Kotoko walk into the Kumasi clash with a 1-0 win from the first leg in Benin. Isaac Oppong produced individual brilliance against RC Kadiogo’s defence as the winger scored from inside the right edge of the box.

Oppong has returned from injury sustained in later part of last season. He has been part of the club’s preseason this season fighting back for his position since returning to the pitch. He started on the left wide of the pitch along with George Mfegue on the other side as Steven Mukwala played at center forward position.

The teenager is expected to start in the second leg and fire his team into next round of the Caf Champions League.
