Ibrahim Danlad save late penalty at Berekum as Asante Kotoko earns vital points against Chelsea

Berekum Chelsea arguably made the home Advantage somehow count but failed to grind all three points from giants Asante Kotoko after a pulsating 0-0 stalemate at the Golden City Park in week 13 of the Ghana Premier League.

Both teams named strong starting XI against each other with most of the expected players included for the big game.

Danlad Ibrahim’s heroics played a key role and was the main reason the Porcupine Warriors will be leaving Berekum with a point today.
After a poor first half display, the Bibires came really strong in the second phase and nearly took the lead on the 60th minute but Kofi Owusu failed to connect Jackson Owusu’s sumptuous pass.

Kotoko struggling to settle really well throughout the game not until Augustine Agyapong’s javelin throw nearly caused a havoc at the Chelsea backline but was headed out by Anokye Badu.

Chelsea again with a chance but Nasiru Osman this time had his cross failed to be handled properly by Evans Obeng and rolls over for a restart.

Free kick for Asante Kotoko at a very advantageous position. Ganiu Ismail with a deep delivery but was saved by Obeng Sekyere Gregory.

Berekum Chelsea awarded a penalty on the 77th minute. Stephen Anokye Badu stepped up but his effort was saved by Danlad Ibrahim. What a moment it was for the Black Satellites goalie.

The Porcupine Warriors with a quick response to take the lead as Augustine Agyapong combines nicely with Lamptey but shot straight at the throat of the goalkeeper.

Another scare for the league leaders after an indirect free kick was awarded against Danlad on the 83rd minute. Kofi Owusu’s delivery took a deflection and resulted into a wasted corner kick.

After five minutes of additional time, referee Jones Akubiem blew his whistle to bring proceedings to an end. Spoils shared after full time.
