Kotoko boss Prosper Narteh Ogum gives explanation for dropping Razak Abalora

After gradually having clear understanding of his team, Narteh Ogum has given positive account of his recent rotational policy at Asante Kotoko. The likes of Augustine Agyapong, Sheriff Mohammed, Andrews Appau, Solomon Sarfo Taylor, Evans Adomako and Ibrahim Danlad have got minutes in Kotoko’s last three games.

Something that has never happened right at start of the Ghana Premier League with Yussif Mubarik, Christopher Nettey (before injury), Fabio Gama, Richmond Lamptey and Razak Abelora the regular men.

On Abelora, Asante Kotoko boss Prosper Narteh Ogum has responded to his situation after been dropped in clashes against Aduana Stars and Ash Gold where former Ghana U-17 International Ibrahim Danlad was given the nod.

Former Black Stars shot-stopper Razak Abalora has been on the bench for the Ghanaian giants in the last three matches and many supporters have quizzed about the changes in the post.

Abalora has been phenomenally spectacular for Kotoko this season starting nine matches for the Porcupine Warriors this season with five clean sheets.

Responding to why the former Azam FC man has been benched, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum said,

“We have three National team goalkeepers, Kwame Baah, Danlad and Abalora. These are all good qualities goalkeepers, every day, every time, any venue when you give them the opportunity they will show themselves approve.”

“And if you look at these three qualities goalkeepers, you can’t make them dormant. So basically, you need to go back to the rotational policy where every one of them will have a feel of the season and I think once that is done, it will build their confidence, and it will bond them as a goalkeeping department so that they will stay united, they will stay focus, and then they will encourage each other,” he concluded.

The Porcupine Warriors are leading the League log with 26 points after match day 11. They face Berekum Chelsea away from home on Saturday before hosting Medeama SC the following week at Baba Yara Stadium.

Abelora has been splendid but there are a couple of stars who have played important part in Kotoko’s lead. Midfielders Richard Boadu and Mudasiru Salifu have been a perfect pair in recent Kotoko matches developing that need understanding.

Mbella Etouga is another star who has help firing Kotoko to the Ghana Premier League submit. The Cameroonian International opened his goal-scoring account against Real Tamale United and has never looked back.

He has scored five more goals within against Legon Cities and grabbing a hat-trick against Ash Gold last Sunday. The Cameroonian has now bagged in 6 goals in the Ghana Premier League.

Compatriot Georges Mfegue has also been key netting four times and five assists for Kotoko so far.
