Morocco beat Ghana in Afcon Group C opener as Sofiane Boufal continued North dominance

Morocco and Ghana faced off in Afcon Group C opener at Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium with the previous picking all three points.

Sofiane Boufal’s 82nd-minute strike helped Morocco to a narrow win over rivals Ghana in their Africa Cup of Nations opener.

The former Southampton winger pounced on to a loose ball before hammering his effort into the far corner.

It was a rare moment of quality in an otherwise uneventful game as four-time winners Ghana frustrated their opponents.
Morocco beat Ghana in friendly in June 2021 where the West African country were confident of a revenge. However, Morocco continued their dominance after picking another slim victory in Cameroon Afcon tournament.

Morocco were untroubled in the closing stages, cantering to their win. Ghana will play against Gabon on Tuesday while Morocco face Comoros in second group stage games.
