Ghanaian heavyweights Hearts of Oak close to appointing Tunisian coach Jani Tarek as Kim Grant long term replacement

Ghana Premier League side Hearts of Oak axed their boss Kim Grant last Tuesday following his recent poor performance at post, losing the Presidential Cup final and the opener of the 2019-2020 Ghana Premier League opener against Asante Kotoko and Berekum Chelsea respectively.

Edward Nii Odoom was named as Grant’s interim replacement to free the club from pressure in pursuit of Kim Grant long term replacement.

The Ghana giants have set their sight on one man, Tunisian Jani Tarek, a man most football fans in Ghana will have clear memory of after he led Ivorian side San Pedro SC to eliminate on of Ghana’s heavyweights Asante Kotoko in the playoff of the ongoing CAF Confederation Cup.

Hearts of Oak have already opened negotiations with the Tunisian trainer, and negotiations are in advanced stage, as confirmed by Tarek.

“I am in communication with Ghanaian side Hearts of Oak to take over the technical leadership of the team,” the Tunisian technical brain said on Wednesday.

“Negotiations are still ongoing, of course I would be happy to work with one of the oldest African clubs.”

The master tactician is expected to arrive in Ghana next week if any agreement between him and the Hearts big bosses are reached.

Jani Tarek would have been the man leading San Pedro in the group stages of the 2019-2020 Confederation Cup but he stepped down from his post after his triumph over Asante Kotoko in the last round to the group stage of the competition.

The Tunisian trainer led the Ivorians through a successful elimination stage of the Confederation Cup cruising past Santoba from Guinea in the first round of the Confederation Cup.
