Asante Kotoko name strong 22-man squad ahead of Al Hilal clash in Sudan

Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko have named a strong 22-man squad to face Al Hilal in second leg of the African Champions League second preliminary round.

Interim boss Johnson Smith and his men will fly to the North African country on Sunday, racing against the test of time to overturn their 1-0 loss from the first leg in Accra a couple of weeks ago.

Dr. Congo International Vinny Bongonga tab home on 77′ minute from a slide pass inside the 12-yards box to give Al Hilal the deserving away victory in Ghana.

Black Stars shot-stopper Razak Abelora, Black Meteos first no.1 Kwame Baah and former Black Stars second choice Felix Anann are the three goalkeepers named by Smith.

Abelora kept the post in the first leg as he made his second debut since completing his transfer from Young Africans in Tanzania. Anann has just recovered from injury missing Kotoko games from Match-Day 2 of the Ghana Premier League and could be back in the post but would compete with Abelora who is likely to maintain his position against Al Hilal.

Brazilian play-maker Fabio Gama has been included in the list. Gama only made his debut for Kotoko in their 1-1 draw against Ghana Premier League outfit Medeama after coming in as second half sub for Godfred Asiamah.

The Brazilian was missing in action for Kotoko since his arrival due to paperwork but after been cleared to play in the West African Country a week ago, he made an impressive debut against Medeama in Tarkwa.

The likes of Samuel Frimpong, Andrews Appau, Imoro Ibrahim, Christopher Nettey, Adom Frimpong, Latif Anabila, Godred Asaimah, Habib Mohammed and hot duo Kwame Opoku and Osman Ibrahim make the trip to Omdurman.

However, anchor-man Emmanuel Keyekeh failed to travel due to injury picked in the Ghana Premier League two weeks ago.

Box-to-box midfielder Mudasiru Salifu is left out in the squad as a result of lack of full match fitness as the former CS Sfaxien midfielder returned from injury sustained at the beginning of the season in early last month.
