Asante Kotoko play-maker Maxwell Baakoh reveals who Kotoko best player is so far

Asante Kotoko play-maker Maxwell Baakoh reveals who Kotoko best payer is for this season. Though Kotoko haven’t enjoyed much prettier run of form in the season placing fourth position on the Ghana Premier League table and exited the MTN Cup at round 64, they have had some interesting players so far this season.

And among a host include combative midfielders Justice Blay, goalkeeper Kwame Baah, Christopher Nettey, Imoro Ibrahim and Kwame Adom Frimpong who all have shown some level of consistency at the Garden City club this term.

Baakoh, 26, who recently returned to full fitness, has now revealed Kotoko best player for this season and the former Karela United star, Baakoh, now see Justice Blay as the most outstanding performer and team-mate in Maxwell Konadu’s side.

“For me, the best player in the team is Justice Blay. He is doing very well to help the team always. Right from his infancy, he has always been on top of his form,” Bakoh told Light FM.

“He is doing very well to help the team always. Right from his infancy, he has always been on top of his form.

“No discrimination to Blay but if not injury on my path, I would have been the best player in the team always,”

This is the third time Blay has been named the best payer at both club level and beyond having Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) President and GTV Sports pundit Kwabena Yeboah has touted the former Medeama Sporting Club as the best player in the Ghana Premier League before the league was even suspended.

Yeboah’s opinion was carved out of personnel observation during when the President indeed made sit upright and take notice of the Kotoko midfielder in the biggest game on the local calendar, Kotoko against Hearts, at the Accra Sports Stadium in Week 6 of the GPL.

Early this week, former Kotoko anchorman and Black Stars sensation Yusif Alhassan Chibsah preferred Blay to a host of midfielders in the league when Chibsah was asked by Happy FM who his best midfielder in the GPL is.

“There have been impressive performances from some of the midfielders in the game like Justice Blay, Kwame Keyeke, Benjamin Bernard, Eric Kwakwa, Modasiru, Emmanuel Nettey, Frederick Ansah Botchway and Elvis Opoku.

“I can single out Justice Blay who plays just like me. He combines both defensive and attacking duties as a midfielder for Asante Kotoko. Looking at all the players I have mentioned I think he fits that criteria.”

“He has a very good rate and the way he plays I think is similar to how I played during the active days as a footballer.”

Blay, 28, is currently on loan at Kotoko but the Ghanaian giants knee making his spell a permanent one. Medeama SC have rated the services of the midfielder around $800,000 which is currently stalling Kotoko’s attempt to secure him permanently.
