Former Asante Kotoko winger Maxwell Baakoh close to completing move to Egyptian side Caremica Cleopatra

Former winger of Asante Kotoko Maxwell Baakoh closes on move to Egyptian side Ceramica Cleopatra according to reports.

Baakoh rejected a new contract extension from his former employers Kotoko October this years following expiration of his 2-year deal signed back in July 2018.

The Ghanaian International was linked with a move to regional rivals Ash Gold but reduced salary from what he earned at Kotoko hampered a possible move to the Obuasi based side.

Baakoh had been sidelined since 2018 after picking a niggling shin injury in Kotoko Caf Confederation Cup camping and returned to action October this year.

Meanwhile, Ceramica Cleopatra recently gained promotion to the Egyptian Premier League, appear landing Baakoh on a 3-year deal.

The Egyptian side opened negotiations with Baakoh’s agent last month and have already agreed a deal in principle worth undisclosed fee as the move is subjected to medicals.

Baakoh, 25, flew to Egyptian on Thursday to undergo his medicals and expected to sign a 3-year deal with the newly promoted side.

Ceramica Cleopatra have already signed former Hearts of Oak midfielder Winful Cobbinah, Mohamed Ibrahim, Mido Gaber, Fonsinho and Ragab and close to adding Ghanaian International Baakoh. Cleopatra is also reportedly closing on former Kotoko and now Esperance de Tunis ace Kwame Bonsu.

The club gained promotion from the Egyptian Third Division to the 2016–17 Egyptian Second Division, after finishing first in the 2015–16 season.

In the 2019–20 Egyptian Second Division, they finished 1st in Group B, to be promoted to the 2020–21 Egyptian Premier League for the first time in their history.
