Three Unknown Ghanaian Players Detained in Zambia for Working Under Expired Employment Permit

According to latest reports in Ghana, three Ghanaian players who play in the Zambian professional League have been detained by Zambian law officials.

The three players had went to Zambia searching for greener pastures in Buildcon Football Club only to be found guilty after breaching Zambian immigration laws.

The Zambian Immigration Department, Ndola office, underwent a rigorous scrutiny of all foreigners including players and technical staffs at Buildcon FC. It then appeared that Buildcon’s head coach together with 12 players including the three Ghanaian players were all working under expired Employment Permit which were even given to them on temporary basis.

The twelve players are segment into, “Three Ghanaians, three Rwandese, two Congolese, one Cameroonian, one Burundian, one South African and one Ivorian were found culpable of either holding expired Temporary Employment Permits, overstaying their business visits or were in contravention of terms and conditions of their employment permits,” as stated by a release from the Ndola Immigration Office on Thursday 6th March, 2020.

The statement continued, ”The 12 players and the Coach have been detained as a result pending further immigration formalities. Buildcon FC is officially yet to respond to our request to know the identities of the detained Ghanaians.”

Though these players are yet to be known, however, Basit Masawudu, Mustapha Essuman, Moro Lamine and Richmond Adongo completed moves to Buildcon FC in 2017 which may be three of these four Ghanaian players.

Buildcon haven’t enjoyed a smooth running of the Zambia Super League, placing 15th on the log with 25 points from 23 league outings. They have picked just a point in their last five league games.
