Michael Vinicius delivers first message since leaving Asante Kotoko
Michael Vinicius has delivered an emotional message to Asante Kotoko as it appears the Brazilian’s first words since leaving the Baba Yara Stadium three days ago.
Michael joined Kotoko in March 2021 when the Ghana Premier League has hit a turn for second round. The South American ace scored in his debut game against Bechem Unites after signing a two and half year deal.
Kotoko are battling for this season’s Ghana Premier League but expectations are high on conquering Africa when they get the nod to represent Ghana next season.
Michael is believed to fire Kotoko into African glory though a couple of top talents would be signed. However, the Brazilian International mutually parted ways with Kotoko after only two months into his two and half year contract.
He has since remained silence over his departure. Michael has now spoken to his former club wishing them a good luck in the season.
Many Kotoko fans are interested in understanding why the 28-year old parted company with the Ghana Premier League side but the club has officially not announced any reasons for termination of Michael’s contract.
“Michael Vinícius is no more with us. The club will make an official announcement on his exit in the coming days,” Barreto said after the club’s 2-0 victory over BYFA in the MTN FA Cup competition.
While the forward was delivering a message to the Ghanaian giants, he also failed to give reasons why his contract was terminated.
“I ended my life in Asante Kotoko and left the coast. It was a short but real impact. Thank you for your support and the kind welcome you offered me, I really can’t pay if you charge.
“Lucky for all of you for the rest of the season and beyond. Always fabulous! Do not judge”.
Reflecting on Michael’s last words in his statement highlights rumours about why the Brazilian was shown the exit door at Asante Kotoko.
There have been potential judgement on Michael’s lifestyle where most reports indicate that the Brazilian has been heavily involved in drug events in Ghana claimed by Accra based Angle FM via Ghanaweb.
Kotoko have been known for disciplinary measures on their players and may be a reason why they parted ways with Michael Vinicius. The former Fluminese striker scored two goals in three Ghana Premier League games.
His departure could potentially hamper Kotoko’s chances of lifting the Ghana Premier League- that has eluded them since 2014. However, Kotoko have heavily relied on midfielders to managed a second place on the Ghana Premier League table.
