Al Ahly striker Aliou Badji eye rivals Zamalek in CAF Champions League final

Al Ahly striker Aliou Badji has eyes set on Zamalek in wake, hoping to meet his rivals in this year’s CAF Champions League final.

This wish may come when Badji wants revenge against the White-Knights. Zamalek lifted this year’s Egyptian Super Cup after beating their bitterest rivals Ahly 4-3 on penalties.

In that game, Badji who had recently signed for the Reds missed his penalty kick seeing the first trophy he could have lifted in Egypt run into Zamalek.

Though the two sides have a game in the Egyptian Premier League that if the league resumes, the Senegalese International would be presented the opportunity to claim revenge against his opponents.

But the Ahly striker has preferred to meet Zamalek in the CAF Champions League finals instead amid sweet revege over Carteron’s side.

“I wish to face Zamalek at CAF Champions League final. We have more talented players and we will fight to win the title.” Badji told reporters.

“I used to shoot to the goalkeeper’s left side but I changed my mind in the game. I was disappointed as I was close to making history.”

The chances of the two clubs meeting in the CAF Champions League seems possible though, however, it’s difficulty as the Egyptians meets Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club and Raja Casablanca in the semifinals of the competition.

But before that both Ahly and Zamalek cleared a very difficult task in the Champions League quarter finals, where Zamalek progress through to the semis over defending champions Esperance de Tunis on 3-2 aggregate.

At the other hand, South African giants Mamelodi Sundown couldn’t with stand the determination of Ahly, with the Cairo-based club holding the PSL outfits to a 1-1 draw in South Africa whiles Ahly sailed through on 3-1 aggregate after winning the first leg tie in Egypt 2-0.

After both clearing Tunisian and South Africa giants, what is left for Zamalek and Ahly in the Champions League so far is to meet Raja Casablanca and Wydad Athletic Club in the semifinal respectively.
