Songne Yacouba move to Simba SC suffers set back as Chief Executive Officer confirms ‘on-hold negotiations

Simba Sporting Club Chief Executive Officer Senzo Mazingisa has confirmed talks to sign former Asante Kotoko striker have been put on hold.

Songne Yacouba joined Asante Kotoko in 2018 and departed April 2020 after failing to reach new deal with the Ghanaian giants.

The Burkina Faso International has attracted several interests from Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates, Zesco United and two Tanzania clubs of Young Africans and Simba SC since middle of last year.

The South African duo redrew from the race, leaving YANGA, Zesco and Simba to fight for the signature of the former Stade Malien striker.

Simba have ever looked favorites to land Yacouba, and the Burkina’s qualities were realized when Simba invited Asante Kotoko for an International club friendly in December 2019.

The Tanzania giants have been in negotiations with Yacouba since beginning of last month, and they were close to agreeing a three year deal for the striker.

However, it has been revealed by Simba that the emergence of different agents for Yacouba has put talks between the two parties on hold.

“The player has approached us with so many agents each claiming he is the only agent and that is why we have put a stop in our negotiations,” Mazingisa told Mwanaspoti.

Simba is building a formidable side to Africa next season and have prioritized the signing of at least four quality players to bolster a squad that reached the group stage of the CAF Champions League.
