Italian businessman Rodrigo Renato Gianno hits Muntari with second court action in attempt to settle $100,000 debt

With first court action in Italy proving essential though it didn’t get matters solved, Rodrigo Renato Gianno has hit former Seria A midfielder Sulley Muntari with a second court attempt in his native country Ghana.

The Ghana Premier League superstar has been sued at the Accra High Court by an Italian businessman Renato Gianno in what is a second court move to get his money paid. The legal action is expected to see Muntari pay amount of $100,000 in debt settlement to Gianno.

Gianno who is an Executive of Spectator Sports Industry in Milan, was reportedly contracted worth $100,000 by Muntari to book him, his family and friends air tickets and hotel room but has been left unpaid for work done.

The Italian man has first lured the former AC Milan and Inter player to a court in his country with the Italian court ruling in favour of Gianno which bonded Muntari to pay the sum of $100,000.

In attempt to pay Gianno, several Muntari’s issued cheques have reportedly been rejected by Banks leaving the Italian business man in limbo. But there appears hope for Gianno after taking the issue to a Ghanaian High Court.

Gianno travelled to Ghana this week to take the court action after Muntari evading all attempts to get him paid as instructed by the Italian court.

The former Black Stars player has not publicly responded to the legal claims made by the Italian businessman to the court.

The move to travel to Ghana to take the court action at the Accra High Court comes after an Italian court initially ruled in favour of Gianno but it’s claimed that the football star  has dodged all attempts for settlement.

The Italian businessman’s latest court action is designed to get the ruling so that in event the famous midfielder refuses to pay, he will sell the landed property of Muntari in Ghana to recover his money.

Gianno sued the former Portsmouth and Sunderland star player at the High Court on Tuesday demanding the payment of €97,320 ($100,000) which he claimed the footballer has refused to pay him.

The Italian businessman revealed that between 2015 and 2017, the former AC Milan star contracted him to book and pay for various airline tickets and various hotel rooms for himself, his family and friends.

It was the period in Muntari’s career when he moved from AC Milan to Saudi side Ittihad before returning to Italy to play for Pescara in the top-flight league.

The footballer, according to the writ at the Accra High Court, had acknowledged the debt to the businessman and promised to pay but attempts to get him to pay has proven futile, forcing the decision to seek the intervention of the court.

Gianno sued the Ghanaian footballer at the Court of Milan in 2019 and got judgement in his favour but three years since the ruling in the European country, the money has still not been paid.

With no known Muntari properties in the European country, the Italian businessman has travelled to Ghana to start the court action which he believes would be ruled in his favour.

Armed with the ruling, he can get the authorities to enforce the ruling so that some of the property of the Ghanaian footballer in Ghana can be sold to offset the debt.
