Al Ahly Benghazi released statement against Orlando Pirates after Caf Confederation Cup heavy defeat as Libyans club side with false covid-1 results
Al Ahly Benghazi are set to file a formal complaint to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) with serious allegations against Orlando Pirates.
Pirates eased past the four-time Libya Premier League champions 3-0 in their recent Caf Confederation Cup fixture at Orlando Stadium that leaves them on the brink of qualification to the knockout stages.
With ES Setif at home and Enyimba away remaining in Group A, Ahly have now thrown somewhat of a curveball claiming several of their players were unable to feature against the Buccaneers due to alleged tampered Covid-19 results.
“There have been negative results for our players and assistant coach after they were ‘infected’ with covid-19) two days ago,” the club statement read as translated from Arabic.
“We recently conducted the coronavirus swabs for our infected players and the technical staff in Egypt. And the appearance of all samples is negative.”
The statement continued: “Assistant coach Anis Al-Rubaie, a negative result of his analysis appeared in South Africa, before his departure to Tunisia.
“Al Ahly is surprised to [see] changes [in] all the infected from a positive to a negative [result] in just two days, which raises suspicion and doubts.
“The club will file an urgent complaint to the CAF to investigate the facts accompanying the Orlando Pirates match in the fourth round of the Confederation Cup group.”
It is not the first time CAF will receive allegations of such a manner this season, with Sudanese side Al-Merrikh notably losing their case against Simba SC last month.
