Asante Kotoko striker Fatau Safiu joins Swedish side Trelleborg in a permanent deal

Abdul Fatau Safiu, formerly of Asante Kotoko has joined Swedish second tier side Trelleborgs FF on a permanent deal after completing a two year deal on Wednesday. At the beginning of Kotoko new season, Fatau joined Trelleborgs on a loan deal from the Ghanaian giants in a deal that worth $35,000.

Fatau joined Trelleborg during the middle of Swedish Superettan season after his initial move to another Swedish side Helsinborg IF broke down.

Helsinborg transfer for Fatau failed after agreeing to offer Kotoko $15,000 in a first six months loan deal before they can turn the deal into a permanent one which would also see the Swedish side pay Kotoko $60,000 when the deal becomes permanent.

But Trelleborg foresaw the forward’s abilities and offer Fatau an improved loan offer of $35,000- two times more than what Helsinborg had offered him in the same loan deal, $15,000.

Though a permanent deal for the forward was based on good performance at, however with the impressive display demonstrated by the electrifying forward during his loan duration forced the technical team of the Trelleborg to secure a permanent deal for Ghana NC Tier-One’s top scorer.

The Black Stars forward has played a big part in Trelleborg’s escape of relegation in the Superettan season, scoring four goals in his nine appearances for Swedish side. Fatau will now be with Trelleborg until November 2019.
