Barcelona have renew interest in signing Willian from Chelsea, Mundo Deportivo

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have renew their interest in signing Willian from Chelsea in this January or next Summer.

Barcelona have struggled to replace Neymar after the former Santos play-maker depart from Camp Nou to Parc des Princes. The likes of Ousmane Dembele, Malcom, Philippe Coutinho and just recently Antoine Griezmann were brought to Camp Nou to fill the big gab left over by Neymar, but none of them has seems to fit in perfectly.

Barcelona turned their attention to Willian last two seasons before the Catalan club finally settled on Malcom and just at this season’s beginning on Griezmann. However, Barcelona as much as they submitted bids in attempt to lure Willian from Chelsea January last season failed, where their bids were rejected by Chelsea on several occasions.

The popular and recent point where Barcelona failed to secure the services of Willian is when the Spanish giants offered Malcom plus cash to swap the Brazilian, but it’s now believed that Barcelona are back in for a battle they believe they can become victors by signing Willian from Chelsea.

Barcelona have renewed their interest in signing the Chelsea winger, claimed by Mundo Deportivo. Willian’s Chelsea contract expires at the end of this season, with no concrete contract extension in place for Brazilian as it stands now, but we understand that talks of renewal are ongoing.

Barcelona prefer of making no money offer to Chelsea this time before they sign Wilian, which means the Catalans are awaiting for Willian’s contract to expire which they can get the Brazilian on a free transfer next summer.

Willian’s transfer to Barcelona wouldn’t come so easy as Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has already disclosed his intentions of keeping the Brazilian after Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Crystal Palace last Saturday.

After the game Lampard said, “The word isn’t ‘no brainer’ because I can’t get involved in the money. That’s up to the club to do.

“But everyone sees how much I’m relying on him, and picking him and in what he is producing, I love him at this football club. So there’s my answer.”

“When I looked at him at the start of the season, I saw him being huge for me and the way we want to play”, he added.

From Lamps words, Willian may be playing a big part in Chelsea’s adopted possessive style of play under Frank Lampard, which the manager appreciates, Lampard is also delightful of Willian’s defensive contributions to Chelsea- that the young players in the Chelsea squad can learn from.

“The off-the-ball work he’s done is an absolutely outstanding example for Callum Hudson-Odoi, Christian Pulisic and other young wingers who think the only part of the game is going past people and crossing or shooting.

“He does the other side brilliantly, with absolute humility, so he’s been a joy and one of the experienced players that’s really helping the young boys.”

Willian would be part of the Chelsea squad that would that will make a trip to Itihad to face Manchester City in the EPL after the International break.
