The Ghana FA decided to part company with him in January this year, and eventually appointed Charles Akonnor as his replacement.

Akwesi Appiah is demanding from the Ghana FA full payment of monies owed him which totals the sum of $185,000.

Despite clarifications that its actually the Ministry of Youth and Sports who have to pay him, Appiah has threatened to escalate the matter to FIFA if the GFA fails to honour the payment.

In reacting to the shenanigans of the ex-Coach, Kofi Asare Brako has blasted Akwesi Appiah for showing ungratefulness towards the Sports Ministry and the Ghana FA.

He compared the actions of Appiah to former Coach Grant who acted more matured towards claiming all his entitlements after his tenure expired.

He told Nhyira FM, “Coach Avram Grant never reported Ghana to FIFA to have his arrears paid until the ministry settled him”

“What Akwesi Appiah is doing makes him ungrateful to Ghana. He should show gratitude to the GFA and the Sports Ministry”.
