Asante Kotoko name new captains as Ibrahim Danlad, George Mfegue and Richmond Lamptey lead Reds ahead of 2023-2024 season

Asante Kotoko have named new captains who will lead the club heading into the new season. Former Black Stars man Ibrahim Danlad, George Mfegue and Richmond Lamptey are the men.

The Ghana Premier League outfit are entering into the season on a strong note having addressed most of their last season’s problems.

Kotoko have signed reinforcements at striking, midfield and most identical central defense positions.

The Reds will he hoping to win back the league title after two years and have named strong leadership.

Ibrahim Danlad has been confirmed as the new captain, assisted by Cameroonian International George Mfegue and Richmond Lamptey is the third captain for the Porcupine Warriors.

The Ghana Premier League record holders made official announcement of their new captains on their Twitter handle on Friday morning.

The confirmation shows picture of the three players led by Ibrahim Danlad.

Kotoko opened the 2023-2024 campaign with a home clash against new comers Kpando Heart of Lions.

With their strong preparations heading into next season, Kotoko have not lost a game in pre-season friendlies. With their center forwards, only Kalo Ouattara has found back of the net in pre-season.

George Mfegue enters into his third season at Asante Kotoko emerging as the first foreign player to be named a leader at the Reds in almost a decade after Burkina Faso International Abdoulaye Soulama.
