Match Report: Asante Kotoko 0-0 Ash Gold, as it happened_ Ghana Premier League Week 10

Asante Kotoko were held to a home goalless draw against regional rival Ash Gold in Week 10 of the Ghana Premier at Baba Yara Stadium.

Kotoko entered into the game without performong Justice Blay, Kwame Adom Frimpong and Mudasiru Salifu, where Blay suffered from illness prior to the game.

William Opoku Mensah and Martin Antwi could have put Kotoko ahead in the second half but Ash Gold keeper Frank Boateng did very well to take the ball off the path of William Opoku Mensha inside the box whilst Martin Antwi was unlucky not to score when his effort on the 63rd minute struck the woodwork.

The resultant rebound fell to Naby Kieta but the Guinea forward headed wide the posts.

On the 85 minute, Naby Kieta beat Ash Gold defense with a powerful rise in air to head a cross from Augustine Okrah but the ball touched tip of the right edge of the cross bar.

Getting to the end of the game, “grown-in-confidence” Ash Gold nearly stole victory, Appiah McCarthy struck the woodwork with a stunning free kick in stoppage time.

Today’s draw marks Kotoko’s second consecutive home draw following the first 1-1 draw against Liberty Professionals three weeks ago.

Kotoko will travel to Dormaa to play Aduana Stars three days later in Week 11 of the Ghana Premier League.
