Russia 1-4 Belgium, Eden Hazard brace, more about the game

Belgium traveled to Russia to face Stanislav Cherchesov’s side in the last but one EURO 2020 qualifying game. A win for Belgium would extend their lead in group I whiles Russia’s win would save them from suffering a back-to-back defeat in the hands of Belgium.

Belgium took a flying start through Thorgan Hazard, the Dortmund winger cut inside from the left edge before firing a tremendous curl into the top left corner to give Belgium a 1-0 lead on the 19’ minute.

Belgium were simply impressive in the first half as they continued to press for more goals. On the 33rd minute, Eden Hazard doubled Belgium’s lead before the Real Madrid Super Star grabbed his second on the night on the 40’ minute.

Russia came into the game very strongly in search for a consolation when it was 30 minutes to full time, but Cherchesov’s side conceded the fourth goal as Romelu Lukaku left footed shot from outside the box went straight into the bottom right corner on the 72’ minute.

Russian got the consolation seven minutes later, Georgi Dzhikiya right footed shot from a very close range went into the top right corner following a corner.

Belgium have maintained their hundred percent record in the qualifying of Euro 2020, winning all of their 9 games so far. Russian despite their lose today have qualified to the Euros haven won all four straight games prior to today’s defeat to Belgium.
