Thomas Partey produces stunning performance against Liverpool in EUFA Champions League

Thomas Partey displayed impressive performance against Liverpool during his side’s 1-0 victory in round 16 of the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night.

Partey played important role when he was called into action against Liverpool in 1/16 of the UEFA Champions League at Wanda Metropolitano.

Diego Simeone’s side needed to kick start their round 16 campaign in the Champions League with a difficult task against one of the best football clubs in the World now.

And the Black Stars midfielder was named in a four man midfield together with Saul Niguez, Thomas Lemar on the far left and Koke on the opposite right whilst Alvaro Morata and Angel Correa led the lines.

Despite Liverpool dominating the game from start, Atletico Madrid was the team to strike first when Saul Niguez unexpectedly beat Liverpool defense to plant the ball into the bottom left corner when it was only four minutes on the clock.

Saul’s lone goal now hands Atletico Madrid vital advantage in the Champions League before they travel to Anfield for the return leg three weeks later.

Throughout the game, the Ghanaian midfielder formed a very compact midfield wall with his co-midfielders against Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson, Fabinho and Georginio Wijnaldum to prevent the Reds from enjoying the game from the center of the midfield.

Partey could have doubled ATL Madrid’s lead but his stoppage time strike went wide off the goal posts.
