Zamalek vs Esperance: CAF name Moroccan and Algerian referees to handle CAF Champions League first and second leg ties respectively

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) have named officials from Morocco to officiate the first leg game between Zamalek and Esperance de Tunis and Algerian referee to handle the second leg tie in Tunis as the two a CAF Champions League quarter-final clash.

Despite their CAF Super Cup final in Qatar last Friday, there are still more games to determine superiority between Zamalek and Esperance de Tunis in CAF Inter Club football.

The two North Africa sides are paired in the quarter-finals of the 2019-2020 Total CAF Champions League, taking place for a first leg tie on 28th of this month in Cairo and second leg on 6th March, 2020 in Tunis.

Ahead of the two master class games, CAF have named Moroccan and Algerian officials to handle to first leg game and second leg clash in Tunis respectively.

Radwan Zayed, Moroccan referee will now handle the game in Cairo, Egypt in what happens to bethe first continental assignment for Zayed since the controversial match between Al Hilal Omdurman and Al Ahly in Sudan few weeks ago which saw many crowd disturbances in response to his decisions.

Zayed will be assisted by Lahcen Azzagou, first assistant, Mustafa Akkadad, second assistant and fourth referee, Adel Zorak.

Algerian referee Mustapha Ghorbal will have his turn to be in the middle between Esperance and Zamalek when the two African giants meet a week later in Tunis. Ghorbal have a good memory of the two teams when he was one of the assistant referees in their latest clash in the CAF Super Cup Final in Qatar.
