Samatex 1-2 Asante Kotoko: Porcupine Warriors get back to winning ways as Enoch Morrison and Rockey Dwamena score

Enoch Morrison and Rockey Dwamena were on target for Asante Kotoko as the Porcupine Warriors beat Samatex at Samreboi.

Asante Kotoko has not been action since their 1-0 loss to Hearts of Oak in the Presidential Cup with their last weekend’s clash against city rivals King Faisal postponed. The game will now be played on Wednesday 29th March.

They traveled to Samatex on Saturday in a game they needed nothing but a win to boost the Ghana Premier League title defense.

Despite the slow start, they bounce back within a short time to dominate up to the 35′ minute, and they were decisive within the spell to take 2-0 lead after both goals were scored from inside the box.

Morrison broke the deadlock after a team move has seen Richmond Lamptey feeding Solomon Sarfo Taylor but the situation was a misplaced one with Morrison stepping in to fill the void. The former King Faisal midfield pushed the ball forward before firing to the far posts.

Kotoko doubled the lead with Rockey Dwamena scoring from a rebound after Samatex had failed to clear the danger. It is Dwamena’s first goal since joining Asante Kotoko at the beginning of the season.

The hosts improved their game dominanting from start of the second half to finish as the reduced the deficit in last minutes of the game. The pressure which they mounted gave Asante Kotoko no breathing space as the Reds could rarely attack.

Samatex kept their game and it took timely saves from Frederick Asare and Andrews Appau intervention to keep Kotoko 2-1 lead to full time.

Kotoko has now moved to fourth postion on the Ghana Premier League standings.
