Yaw Annor struck twice in Ash Gold 2-2 draw against Bibiani Gold Stars on Sunday that see him overtake Asante Kotoko forward Mbella Etouga for the Ghana Premier League top scorer award in last day of the season.

Heading into last day fixtures, Etouga led the chat with 21 goals one more above second place Yaw Annor. The Cameroonian International failed to net in Kotoko’s last day visit to Accra Lions in a 1-1 draw on Saturday.

Mbella’s goal silent hand Yaw Annor advantage in the goal-king race as Ash Gold travel to Bibiani to face Gold Stars at the Dunks Park. Annor looked the likeliest source if Ash Gold were to score and it took some 24′ minutes for the attacker to give his side the lead.

The strike tied the 24-year old with Mbella Etouga on top of the said award with 21 each but Annor netted his second goal before end of the first half.

His second goal beat Etouga to the GPL top scorer of the 2021-2022 season.

The 24-year old started the season slowly seeing Mbella Etouga tipped as the huge favourite for the goal-king. Mbella ended the first round with 11 goals while Annor was out of the first three top scorers in the first round.

Annor warmed himself into the second half netting a hat-trick in Ash Gold’s 6-0 thrashing of WAFA in April. The attacker made a further headlines after scoring four goals in Ash Gold’s 5-1 victory over Berekum Chelsea in May.

Annor finally climbed to second position on the log with a goal behind after scoring in home draw against Mbella’s Asante Kotoko. Annor could have surpassed the Cameroonian competitor in that game but missed lot of clear chances.

Mbella failed to net in Kotoko 3-0 win over Elmina Sharks on coronation day and failed to extend the tally on final day at Accra Lions. Annor’s two goals in final day at Gold Stars hand him the GPL top scorer award.
