Match Report: King Faisal 1-2 Hearts of Oak as it happened, Ghana Premier League 2020/2021

Abdul Omar Manaf stoppage time penalty wins it for Hearts of Oak against King Faisal in Techiman

Hearts of Oak run away from Techiman with a slim 2-1 victory over King Faisal as Omar Manaf struck in stoppage time to seal victory.

Kosta Papic suffered a temporal set back in his Hearts managerial journey after being punished by Aduana Stars at Dormaa last Wednesday but has bounced back strongly, leading Hearts of Oak to beat King Faisal at Nana Ameyaw Park.

In today’s clash, Papic made four changes to Hearts eleven against Aduana Stars when first choice Goalkeeper Richard Attah was called to the bench for Richmond Ayi to make his first appearance of the season, Larry Sumaila was replaced by Fatawu Mohammed at right-back, club’s top scorer Kojo Obeng Jr was replaced by Kwaku Aidoo, who the last two also make a season’s debut.

Benjamin Afutu returned to the team’s starting lineup after missing their last three games and replaced Mamani Lawali in defensive midfield.

Afutu put Hearts ahead in the first half but a very dominant performance by King Faisal saw debutant Kwadwo Frimpong leveled early in the second half and controlled the game for a while after the equalizer.

Determined Papic’s side put pieces together and warmed into the game with Abdul Omar Manaf in particular creating problems for King Faisal defense and went on to convert a late penalty to steal victory for his side.

Today’s victory see Hearts pick their second win of the season and are 7 points from 6 games on the Ghana Premier League table while King Faisal have 4 from same matches.
