BREAKING- Asante Kotoko closes in on Bechem United defender Samuel Osei Kuffour
The Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko have moved a step closer in signing Samuel Osei Kuffour from Bechem United, according to reports.
The Porcupine Warriors have been in the market for reinforcements ahead of their Caf Champions League campaign. They have been linked with a move for several defenders.
According to a report in Ghana, Kotoko are close to signing Osei Kuffour after agreeing personal terms with the Bechem United central defender. Kotoko are entangled in central defense due to the unconvincing performances of Andrew Appau and Maxwell Agyemang who both were to provide a solid back up for first choice pair Abdul Ganiyu and Yussif Mubarik.
But the duo underperformed last season raising concerns for reinforcements.
Ganiyu is also understood likely to leave the club widening the need to bring in additions. Bechem’s Osei Kuffour has always been a front-runner all this transfer window with Asante Kotoko and Bechem United having been on the table for the last weeks to reach agreement but nothing has materialized between the two parties.
For a deal to go through, the player’s personal demand must also be met and Kotoko have successfully completed that task as the 2021-2022 Ghana Premier League champions have reached agreement in principle with Osei Kuffour.
However, they are confident of reaching agreement with Bechem United over the deal. It’s understood that Bechem could soften their unnamed asking prize that will see Kotoko have a breakthrough for the 20-year old.
Bechem United have been a place for club’s to strengthen their squad this summer after Simba luring star man Augustine Okra last two weeks. The Ghanaian International has hit the ground running netting in the club’s pre-season friendly against Egyptian Premier League side Ismaily.
A second player could be on the way out of the Hunters with Osei Kuffour likely to depart in the next days. Kuffour is expected to sign a three year deal at Kotoko.
