Andre Ayew congratulates teammates for AFCON wins and hopes 2021 AFCON qualification for Ghana

Black Stars captain Andre Ayew has welcomed the performance of his national teammates with delight and congratulated the Black Stars players for their enticing performance in their qualifiers for 2021 AFCON in Cameroon.

The Black Stars exhibited a class of performance in Ghana’s first AFCON qualifier against South Africa in Cape Coast before traveling to the City of Sao Tome to inflict a dominant show on the pitch against Sao Tome and Principe last Monday.

Though there have been mixed feelings for Ghanaian supporters in Star’s recent AFCON qualifiers as the fans on one hand applauded Black Stars for their tremendous display against the Bafana Bafana and expressed disappointments in Ghana’s slim victory over Sao Tome and Principe on the other hand, Andre Ayew feels all happy over his side’s two games in the AFCON qualifiers.

Apart from being delighted of Ghana’s performances, the Black Stars skipper also congratulated his teammates for coming together to secure wins over their recent opponents in the AFCON.

These wins may be accompanied by respect, unity and discipline at team camp that have saw Ghana claim 6 points from 2 games in group C.

“I very happy and I want to congratulate all the players for the win. Camp has been brilliant and discipline has been perfect” Andre told reporters in Ghana.

South Africa and Sao Tome and Principe both failed in preventing Ghana from making it two wins out of two games, and Andre believes the two consecutive wins achievement is something good for the Stars, which would go a long way to helping Ghana seek AFCON qualification.

“We have six points and no team in our group did that in this international week so that proves that we did something good” said Andre.

“This is just the beginning and we have six points now and we have to continue like this and I am happy and hope we continue like this”, he concluded.

Andre Ayew has had outstanding season at Swansea City this term, where one of the off the pitch events saw the Ghana skipper appointed as the vice-captain of Swansea some months ago. Andre will be part of Swansea squad that face Millwall in the Championship this Saturday afternoon.
