CONFIRMED: Ghana Premier League set to start on 21st December as GFA release calendar for 2019-2020 football season

The Ghana Football Association has released the 2019-2020 football season calendar on Wednesday evening 20th November, 2019.

GFA who is reigning under new administration has released a new calendar for the upcoming 2019-2020 football season. The kick off date for the new Ghana Premier League together with all other football leagues in Ghana is scheduled on Saturday 21st December, 2019 and ends July 2020.

Ghana’s 2017-2018 Ghana Premier league was halted in June 2018 following the release of bribery documentary popularly known as Anas expose’ that hit Ghana football, and the confirmation of the official cancellation  that league was made at the  2019 GFA Extra-Ordinary Congress last month.

The new Ghana Premier League season would feature 18 clubs instead of the initial 16 teams, which means King Faisal and Accra Great Olympics were included during the 2019 Extraordinary Congress of the GFA.

The calendar begins with Registration of Players and Officials by Clubs on 14th October to the 15th day of December 2019. On 20th November would be the Application for Club Licence before the official kick-off of the leagues- Premier, Division 1& 2 and Women is dated 21st of next month.

The teams that will be involved in the new Ghana Premier League season are Asante Kotoko, Hearts of Oak, Ahsanti Gold, Medeama, WA All-Stars, Elmina Sharks, WAFA and Berekum Chelsea.

Together with Inter Allies, Dreams FC, Aduana Stars, Bechem United, Liberty Professionals, Karela United, Eleven Wonders, Ebusua Dwarfs, King Faisal, and Great Olympics.
