Three African giants in for Asante Kotoko talisman Songne Yacouba amid the Burkinabe’s departure in January

Ghana Premier League record holders Asante Kotoko are on the verge losing their talisman Songne Yacouba after both parties have failed to reach contract extension agreement.

Yacouba from Burkina Faso has been supporters’ darling boy since joining the Ghanaian champions in January 2018, and he has generally been admired for his escalating goal scoring prowess for the Ghanaian side.

The Burkina International will see his current contract expire February next year which will make him a free man to join any club of his choice. But he may still have the option to play for Kotoko that is when he extends his contract with the Kumasi based club.

Kotoko are in negotiations with their forward but both parties are still separated by their differences, with the striker rejecting the latest deal offered by his employers.

It has appeared the Kotoko would have to put up a huge fight to keep hold on their prize asset as two Zambian clubs have offered the Burkinabe an improved offer of his current wages at Kumasi, and a team from Sudan have inquired the availability of Yacouba as well.

According to sources on Friday, the two Zambian clubs which according our sources are ZESCO United and Nkana FC have already spoken with Yacouba’s representative, and the Zambian clubs are willingly to offer the Burkina International more than half his current earnings.

Sudan CAF Champions League campaigners Al Hilal are preparing to take a deep dive into next month’s transfer window where they are reported to already reach agreement with Ghanaian side Hearts of Oak for forward Joseph Esso, and they appear to re-ignite interest in the Asante Kotoko forward.

The former Stade Malien star has previously been linked with a move to Nkana FC, ZESCO and Al Hilal when they all shared place in group C of the 2018-2019 CAF Confederation Cup. The Burkina striker scored against both Nkana at the Nkana Stadium and Al Hilal at Kumasi.

With Yacouba contracting running out faster, Kotoko are forced to open negotiations with the Zambian sides when it has seems extending the forward’s contract is highly difficult. Kotoko would be wise to sell him in January than to see the forward’s contract expire and turns a free agent after February 2020.
