Prosper Narteh Ogum demands more from Asante Kotoko players after making unsatisfactory claims following hard-fought win over Legon Cites

Asante Kotoko manager Prosper Narteh Ogum has demanded much improve performance from his players after making unsatisfactory statement in 2-1 win over Legon Cities at Dawu.

The Ghanaian International, who guided West African Football Academy to a third place, appears to be disappointment in his side’s performance despite ending their three-game winless run in Match-day 9 of Ghana’s top flight.

Asante Kotoko won the game 2-1 against Legon Cities in an away clash played in Dawu due to a change of venue resulting from Accra Sports Stadium maintenance.

Cameroonian international Frank Mbella Eouga scored twice as Ahmed Rahman pulled one back in proceedings for Legon Cities.

“I wasn’t satisfied with the performance, if you look at the way we played that is not how we play,” Prosper Narteh Ogum stated after the game.

“When we scored, we were playing better but because the goal we conceded is a bad goal, it just took the zeal out of our team and that made us disjointed.”

“When we went into the dressing room, I told them that those things happen in games but we need to pick the pieces together.

“In terms of performance-wise I’m not happy about the way we played,” the coach stated.

Arguably, Kotoko is one of the best teams in the league and travellers having avoided a loss away from home. They started their away journey with a 3-1 win over tough Dreams FC in season’s opener. In a game they needed to play above themselves to claim victory, Kotoko came from a goal down to steal the show.

Thanks to Mudasiru Salifu, Isaac Oppong and Richmond Lamptey who handed that massive victory to overcome Black Stars winger Fatawu Issahaku’s opener.

Kotoko continued with a 1-0 victory against newly promoted side Bibiani Golds Stars with Isaac Oppong, who appears one of the best newly signed Porcupines, scoring from a curler at the edge of the box.

That victory gave Kotoko a 100% start to the Ghana Premier League before facing Karela United in their third away game. Despite being reduced to 10 men after Richard Boadu was shown the red card, Kotoko managed with a goalless draw at the Grosby Awuah Memorial Park in Anyinase.

Kotoko saw their fourth away fixture against Hearts of Oak postponed due to African campaign infiltration. The later failed to enter into group stage football after been crushed out of in Caf Champions League first round by Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic and Confederation Cup playoff by JS Saoura.

A delay from the second- leg-clash-return from Algerian meant the Ghana Football Association needs to cancel Accra fixture that would have kicked-off just two days after Hearts arrival in Ghana.

Kotoko traveled to Dawu to face Legon Cities in their fifth Ghana Premier League away fixture and thanks to Etouga who made the major headlines grabbing two goals to get Kotoko back to winning ways.

The Kumasi side play West African Football Academy (WAFA) in their next fixture at Baba Yara Sports Stadium before the make a trip to Dormaa to face leaders Aduana Stars in January.
