Mudasiru Salifu: Asante Kotoko midfielder delighted after ‘important win’ against Legon Cities

Asante Kotoko midfielder Mudasiru Salifu has expressed delight over his side’s victory over Legon Cities in Ghana Premier League week 9 fixture last Sunday.

The Porcupine Warriors ended their three-game winless run after beating Maxwell Konadu’s men at Theatre of Dreams in Dawu.

Kotoko dominated the game with Cameroonian forward Mbella Etouga netting in each halve to complete his brace in Kotoko’s 2-1 win.

“Very important win for our fans,” wrote Mudasiru on Twitter. Mudasiru returned to the starting XI after missing in stalemate against Real Tamale United at Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

The former CS Sfaxien midfielder has been instrumental since joining the Ghana Premier League outfit on a free transfer in June 2019. The 24-year old’s career at the Baba Yara Stadium has been hampered by series of injury with the serious one coming in his first season at Kotoko.

He sustained a six-week-sideline injury in El Clasico fixture against Hearts of Oak in January 2020 and Kotoko suffered from his unavailability.

In Legon Cities win, Mbella who has scored two goals so far started his account with the first half strike against RTU last Wednesday and added to it on the 29th minute against the Cities.

But it took only three minutes for Legon Cities to equalise courtesy of an error by goalkeeper Razak Abalora as Ahmed Rahman scored.

Legon Cities looked a different side after scoring. They were not afraid to attack and created some decent chances in the second half.

Abalora atoned for his error with a great save before Mbella snatched the victory for Kotoko in the 78th minute.
