Cameroonian forward Mbella Etouga double against Legon Cities in Dawu gets Asante Kotoko back to winning ways

After three consecutive Premier League games without a win, Asante Kotoko raise from the dark cruising into a narrow victory over Legon Cities at Dawu.

A brace from Mbella Etouga Thiery propelled the Porcupine Warriors to another important away win over Legon Cities in their epic Premier League game at the Theater of Dreams.

Asante Kotoko returned to winning ways after inflicting a painful 2-1 home defeat on Legon Cities in the match-day nine of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

The game commenced on higher note as both clubs looked resolute at the back with few goal glaring opportunities.

Asante Kotoko looked dangerous upfront with Georges Mfegue and his compatriot Mbella Etouga kept tormenting the home side with solo efforts.

On the 29th minute, Cameroonian striker Mbella Etouga Thiery snatched the opener for the Porcupine Warriors with a brilliant strike to unsettle the Royals at home.

Asante Kotoko continued their brilliant display as George Mfegue came close to double the lead but his header missed the net on the 31st minute of the game.

Legon Cities levelled the score on the 33th minute after Abdul Rahman beautifully connected a free-kick effected by Francis Addo Neur.

The last ten minutes of the fixture looked balanced as the two clubs failed to make the few golden opportunities created earn them a winner.

The first half of the game ended in one-all draw at the Theater of Dreams in Dawu.

In the second half, Legon Cities returned from the tunnel as much stronger than the visitors in the early minutes but they squandered the numerous chances created.

Goalkeeper Razak Abalora made a magnificent save to deny Abdul Rahman from netting a brace on the 69th minute of the game.

Asante Kotoko made a tactical substitutions with the introduction of Sarfo Taylor and Yussif Mubarik as replacement for Georges Mfegue and Mudasiru Salifu respectively.

Newly-signed Mbella Etouga registered his second goal of the day with a header via a cross delivered by Stephen Amankona on the 77th minute of the game.

Asante Kotoko stood firmly at the backline to prevent the homesters from getting the equalizer as the match ended in a 2-1 win for the Porcupine Warriors.

Following the defeat, Legon Cities have dropped into the drop zone, occupying 16th position with just seven points after match-day nine.
